Crowns and Bridges
Review From Facebook
Almost 20 years ago I chipped my front tooth, other dentists fixed the tooth with a Veneer and it subsequently chipped more than once. In 2004, Dr. Lamothe fixed the tooth and since then it has never chipped. Since relocating I have been to multiple dentists and each has complemented his work - color match, design, grooves, etc. He is the best I've experienced, bar none.

At Smyrna Dental & Headache Center, we provide cosmetic and general dental procedures.
Dental crowns and bridges are common restorations used in both fields as they help restore the beauty and functionality of a patient’s smile.
Dental Crowns
Crowns are used to repair or cover a natural tooth. They are made of porcelain, and are fabricated to blend in with the patient’s smile. They resemble "caps" that cover teeth that are discolored, broken, or weakened. Porcelain is the material of choice to cover and protect teeth as it is strong and mimics the appearance of natural tooth enamel. In some instances, crowns are used to restore a dental implant, which may be used to replace missing natural teeth.
The crown acts as a false tooth, and restores the original appearance of the smile before the loss of the natural tooth.
Dental Bridges
Fixed dental bridges are restorations made with dental crowns to restore a smile after tooth loss. Bridges are composed of two crowns that are fused to false teeth called "pontics." The pontic is created to sit at the gum line to appear as a natural tooth once tooth loss has occurred.
The crowns on each side are bonded over the surrounding teeth to support the bridge. There are times when patients are good candidates for dental bridges, but in some instances, alternative treatments such as partial dentures or dental implants may be more beneficial.
Dental crowns and bridges are wonderful restorations that can be created in less than two weeks for most patients. Impressions are taken of the patient’s tooth or dental arch, and they are sent to an outside laboratory in which the restorations are fabricated to the dentist’s specifications. Once sent to the dentist, the patient arrives back at the dental office for the placement of the restoration.
The team at Smyrna Dental & Headache Center is happy to assist patients in finding the proper solution to their dental concerns. Restoring a smile and making it look its best is a key component of cosmetic and general dentistry, in addition to assisting patients in maintaining good oral health habits.
